About Award-Winning Board Games

Award-Winning Board Games lists board games that won, or were shortlisted for, the major game prizes: the Spiel des Jahres and its sister prizes for connoisseurs' and children's games, the Deutscher Spiele Preis, the French As d'Or and Mensa Select.

We add what the official lists don't: the ages each game suits, how many can play, how long it takes and what kind of game it is, so you can find the right one for your table or as a gift.

Where the information comes from

The lists of winners and nominees come from Wikipedia. Players, playing time and ages come from Wikidata and from the publishers, checked by hand. The kind of game is our own judgment; if you think we got one wrong, tell us.

Award-Winning Board Games is independent and is not connected with Spiel des Jahres e.V., the Deutscher Spiele Preis, the As d'Or or American Mensa.
